(WASHINGTON, DC) - Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Department of Forensic Sciences (DFS) Interim Director, Dr. Fransico J. Díaz, welcome five new members to the DFS Science Advisory Board.
The role of the DFS Advisory Board is to review reports of allegations of professional negligence, misconduct, or misidentification or other testing error that occurred in the provision of forensic science services at the DFS, periodically review the program standards and protocols related to Department operations, and advise on matters relating to the DFS or forensic science.
"We are thrilled to welcome these exceptional professionals to the DFS Science Advisory Board. Their diverse backgrounds, years of expertise and deep knowledge in forensic science will be invaluable as they advise the agency on best practices and policies to help serve the residents and visitors in the District of Columbia,” said Dr. Francisco J Diaz. “We look forward to their insights as we strive to enhance our services, implement cutting-edge technologies, and maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity.”
The new DFS Science Advisory Board members are:
Dr. Roger Kahn
- Former Forensic Director, Harris County, Texas, Institute of Forensic Sciences
Ms. Claudine Pereira
- Crime Lab Director, Broward Sherrif’s Office, Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Ms. Nicole Roehm
- Administrator, Division of Forensic Sciences, Wisconsin Department of Justice
Dr. Jeri Ropero-Miller
- Senior Director, RTI International for Forensics
- Former President, American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS)
Ms. Laura Sudkamp
- Former Director, Kentucky State Police Forensic Laboratory
